Gardens for wildlife information session

Edendale Community Environment Farm VIC Eltham

Wednesday August 28th
Community and food ,  Outdoor activities

Come and explore a Gardens for Wildlife program for Nillumbik Shire.

This program is growing across Victoria and aims to promote gardening for native plants and animals within our communities. Gardens for Wildlife Victoria has the following goals:

  • to nurture our flora, fauna and environment
  • to build skills, confidence and ownership in caring for the land and its wildlife
  • to strengthen connections between residents, their community, nature and place
  • to improve health and well-being through experiencing and caring for nature
  • to build a network of environmental stewards and champions
  • to collect stories and data about the impact of our work

This program is a community-council partnership so we’ll be looking for community champions to partner with us to co-design and implement a Gardens for Wildlife program for Nillumbik Shire.

You do not need to be an experienced gardener to be involved!

Come along with your ideas and passion to further our explorations.

City of Gosnells – Every club workshop: Managing conflict and difficult people

Mills Park Centre – Lesser Hall (level 1) WA Beckenham

Wednesday August 28th
Job skills

Managing Conflict & Difficult People: a FREE workshop for community clubs

With our best intentions to deliver sport in a fun, safe and fair manner, it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ we are met with difficult people and conflict.Conflict can arise in sport in many ways – selecting athletes onto a representative team, interpreting the rules of the game or even deciding which direction to take the club into the future. This new course is designed to develop the skills of coaches, officials and committee members to better prevent, manage conflict and deal with difficult people. The course will investigate strategies to:

  • Identify conflict in its early stages before it erupts into crisis
  • Prevent conflict arising in the first place
  • Use verbal strategies and body language to diffuse conflict
  • Ask the one question that could stop conflict immediately
  • Dealing with conflict on social media.

This fast-paced and interactive course is offered free to community groups and clubs in the City of Gosnells through a partnership with Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
