ESL Refugee Students Visit France – A French Cooking Adventure
As part of Adult Learners Week 2026, Karen refugee ESL students in the small Victorian town of Nhill will take a fun journey to France without leaving their local community. Through cooking French ratatouille and fresh baguettes, students will explore French food and culture while developing their English language skills, learning new vocabulary, practising conversation and sharing stories and experiences.
The activity brings together food, language, culture and friendship, creating an enjoyable and practical learning experience where students can cook, learn, connect and build confidence in English.
