Geri-Fit active session Belconnen

Belconnen Branch Library 12 Chandler St, Belconnen, ACT

Geri-Fit is a FREE strength-training program for participants who are aged 60 years and over. The Geri-Fit program will commence on 18 July 2023 and run for 12 consecutive weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The program is part of a national pilot of physical-activity-based program AMs to be delivered in Australian public libraries. It is seated, strength-based training, using light weights and resistance bands.

Geri-Fit is designed specifically for older adults to help with gently building their strength, which ensures a higher level of function throughout the aging process. It is safe, effective, fun and social, with proven health outcomes.

The program duration is 45 minutes and will run twice a week for 12 weeks at Belconnen Library.

Kombucha – Adult Learners Week – Kootingal

Learn how to make delicious Kombucha in this hour-long workshop at Kootingal Library. All you need to bring is your own clean, sterilised jar - to take home your scoby and starter liquid. Learn how to make it at home yourself from simple ingredients and a few basic kitchen tools, how to keep it healthy, and how to flavour and carbonate it. You will also learn how it ferments and why it can help to promote good gut health! We will be opening a bottle of Kombucha at each session so you can experience the taste first hand, and how to experiment with alternative recipes. Our instructor has years of experience in fermenting Kombucha and is certified in Safe Food Handling.
Prerequisites:
Adults and 18+ only
Do not attend if you are feeling unwell, nor if you have a cough or are sneezing.
You must be (or become for free on the day!) a member of the CNRL network of libraries such as Kootingal Library. Membership is free, all you need is proof of residency such as a utility bill or drivers license. Register now online at cnl.nsw.gov.au or do it on the day.

VR is a computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment, that can come to life using VR Goggles. The same content will be duplicated in each session, please only book into one session. These sessions are FREE and there are 4 spaces for booking, per session.

Afternoon tea will be provided, and there will be displays of training courses available. Trainers will be on hand to dicsuss adult learning, and there will be lucky door prizes for each region. Medecs Learning will also be announcing their "Learner of the Year" Awards. This is a great opportunity to learn more about adult learning and the training courses offered by Medecs Learning.
