ALW Education for Sustainability Tasmania Panel Discussion

Hear from members of Education for Sustainability Tasmania; a United Nations recognised centre of expertise. Education for Sustainability Tasmania is a network of leaders in sustainability research, training and education, working towards social, cultural, economic and environmental sustainability using education as a central tool.

Panel members for the discussion

Corey Peterson – Sustainability Manager at UTas and president of Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability. Corey has been active in sustainability issues in Tasmania since arriving via an Antarctic research vessel over 20 years ago.

Nel Smit – Education Strategist for Greening Australia, based at the Sustainability Learning Centre. Nel’s life-long focus has been on nature based education, supporting teachers and engaging students and the community in developing a sense of place and caring for the natural world.

Silvana Bettiol – Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Communicable Disease at UTas School of Medicine. Silvana is working towards improving sustainability practices in public health with a focus on dental health, with examples from Tasmania and across Australia.

Ingrid Albion – The Parks and Wildlife Service Discovery Ranger Program promotes sustainable futures by encouraging visitors and the local community to connect with and value our natural and cultural heritage and see our parks and reserves as a platform to improve health and wellbeing.

Rose Bray – Ten Lives Cat Center. Edu.Cat is an exciting Australian-first curriculum aligned feline education program focusing on fostering responsible cat ownership with the aim to create social change in how people care for cats and protect wildlife.

Ruth Osborne – Facilitator of EfS Tas. Living sustainably is essential for the wellbeing of individuals, communities, and the planet and we can all take positive steps to make a difference.
