Learn to Sew

The Nest Community Inc. QLD Everton Park

Saturday August 29th - Saturday September 12th

Our experienced instructors will teach you the basics of threading, adjusting and maintaining a sewing machine. If you continue to attend on a weekly basis, you will be able to progressively develop your sewing skills as we show you more and more advanced skills.

We believe anyone can start sewing however we would recommend this workshop is suitable for ages 14+yrs.

If you are joining us for the first time you will learn how to:

  • Fill the bobbin and fit it into the sewing machine
  • Thread your machine
  • Take up of bobbin thread
  • Sewing straight stitching and vary stitch length
  • Change stitch selection and vary stitch width
  • Sew curves

As you gain confidence and return to our weekly classes we can continue to extend your skills with various projects such as:

  • How to do buttonholes
  • How to put in a zip
  • How to make samples such as a vegetable produce bag or patchwork cushion cover.

What’s included:

We provide sewing machines and materials, however if you would like to bring your own machine you are welcome (please make sure that you bring all the electric parts e.g. cord and foot control, and presser feet).

Tea and coffee facilities available.
