Make Integrate and Explore: Game Creation
September 8 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm AEST$35
In this practical, hands-on workshop, we teach you how to use a free online tool called Scratch and block-based coding to support your students to create a serious game to educate others.
The game we will design in the session is based on the Primary Connections, Year 4 Biological Sciences unit called ‘Among the Gum Trees’. It could be utilised as an assessment task for students to demonstrate their understanding of the science concept as well as their coding and computational thinking skills.
These lessons and resources have been designed by teachers and used in schools for the past two years. While the session will be particularly useful for those planning to teach this unit of work, the concepts may be adapted for other years and subjects.
No prior experience with coding is required and any educator with an interest in the topic is welcome. Just bring along your laptop with Scratch downloaded.
Addresses APST 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6
Certificates will be provided after the session.
