Night sky dreaming and photography

Libraries Tasmania- West Coast Libraries and the Western Echo/Photographic Studio are offering a night of First people’s sharing of some cultural, astrological traditions and the photographing of the night sky. The evening will provide a wonderful learning opportunity for participants during both sunset and astrological night timeframes (hopefully there is an Australis Aurora on the night). Participants are invited to an evening of both ancient knowledge sharing as well as technical/digital learning. In celebration of Adult Learners Week participants will also be provided an opportunity to learn how to download Astrological Apps and their usefulness in guiding night-time photography as well as learning about the to advise best places for night sky photography and techniques to capture “that image”
The evening will commence with a gathering at Ocean Beach Strahan for sunset photography and techniques discussion (sunset is at approximately 5:45pm; followed by a BBQ at the West Strahan Beach before undertaking astronomical night sky photography and some astronomical cultural features common to many Aboriginal traditions that are quite different from non-Aboriginal and European traditions.
