Deborah Peters, NSW

Deborah Peters has not let challenges associated with being a single parent and hearing impaired prevent her continuing her adult learning journey. Working full time as a teacher and raising her children, Deborah has also been studying a teaching master’s degree at La Trobe University and a Certificate II in Auslan.

Deborah’s masters has helped her to specialise in student literacy development and she hopes her Auslan will open even more opportunities for her as a teacher and help her to further connect with the Deaf community.

A scholarship would enable Deborah to continue learning Auslan and possibly retrain in inclusive education, specialising in assisting students who are deaf and hearing impaired.
