Employment Workshop – Elevating Your Presentation

This series of workshops is designed to empower individuals to explore employment opportunities and gain valuable skills.

Week 1 – Crafting Resumes and Cover Letters (8th August 2024)
Bring your current resume and cover letter or collaborate with us to create one from scratch. We will also discuss strategies in addressing your gaps in employment due to period of incarceration. We will also have a guest speaker from Power in You Project.

Week 2 – Exploring Employment Opportunities (15th August 2024)
We will dive into the advantages and the financial impact of employment, fostering independence and financial freedom. We will cultivate a positive mindset towards employment, focusing on skill development, increased confidence, and enhanced capabilities.

Week 3 – Navigating the Job Application Process (22nd August 2024)
Step-by-step demonstration of online job applications, including where to find job listings on various social media platforms. We will also discuss how to talk to potential employers about your criminal record.

Week 4 – Mastering the Interview (29th August 2024)
We’ll engage in hands-on practice of effective interview techniques, covering the dos and dont’s and the tricks & tips to use when referring to your criminal record.

Week 5 – Elevating Your Presentation (5th September 2024)
Dress for success and gain insights into what to wear to a job interview. We will explore essential aspects of interview etiquette, including punctuality, handshakes, addressing panel interviews, the use of cheat sheets, and asking questions during interviews.
