Healthy Mind, Healthy You

September 4 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am AEST

$20

According to Dementia Australia; Looking after your mind, keeping the brain stimulated and active is extremely important for our cognitive health. Research has shown that the types of activities we do, how mentally and socially engaging they are, and how frequently we do them, can:

Build brain reserve, so it can cope better and keep working properly if any brain cells are damaged or die.
Build the brain’s neuroplasticity, through the growth of new brain cells, improved connections between existing brain cells and improved support networks surrounding brain cells
Exercising your brain, mental stimulation and new learning are linked to a reduced risk of dementia.

Some activities that exercise the brain are:
reading
crossword puzzles
painting
sewing
woodwork
cooking
playing an instrument
using technology

Join us in some brain training fun, enjoy morning tea, good conversation and some casual game play. Whether you prefer a solo task, like crosswords or are looking for a partner for a game of chess, we have lots of activities to choose from to help build your cognitive skills and have some fun.
