FREEWhat is the Seniors Exercise Park?
The Seniors Exercise Park has been designed for Seniors to maintain and increase strength, mobility and coordination. It is unlike exercise equipment at parks and reserves because it focuses on key areas from balance, to shoulder and finger flexibility to keeping important areas strong to maintain independence and quality of life. It is outdoors and is free to access.
What happens at the session?
Our trained team of Volunteer Buddies will show you how to use the equipment, how to make exercises easier or harder. It won’t be a sweating, challenging session; you take the activities at your pace, most importantly you will learn how to use the equipment and have fun.
The Volunteer Buddies will guide you through a warm-up, some of the equipment and how to stretch. They are NOT qualified Fitness instructors, Allied Health professionals or First Aiders. They are community minded, friendly people who will share how to use the equipment and the benefits you will get. Taking part in this session should be no higher risk than if you decided to use the equipment on your own or go for a walk. You may not get the chance to try it all, come back again and join in more sessions. These sessions are running regularly so why not pop it in you diary and come every week!
