Embarking on the Robotic Adventure: A 90-Minute Exploration for Beginners, Ages 50+

Are you curious about the world of robots but feel like a novice in this exciting realm? Join us for a tailored 90-minute escapade designed especially for those aged 50 and above who are eager to delve into the wonders of robotics, even if you’re starting with little to no previous experience.

Agenda:

Warm Welcome and Robo-Bonding (10 minutes):
Let’s kick off our journey with a friendly welcome as we gather our fellow beginners. Through a fun icebreaker, you’ll have the chance to get acquainted with your fellow explorers and come up with names for your very own robots, whether they’re real or just products of your imagination.

Robots Unveiled: From Screen to Reality (20 minutes):
Get ready to be amazed as we showcase an engaging mix of slides and videos, shedding light on the various types of robots you might encounter in both industrial and everyday settings. We’ll also take a cinematic detour to recognize some famous robot characters from movies. Together, we’ll explore what robots can and can’t do, delving into the fascinating interplay between technology and human creativity. Plus, we’ll touch on the intriguing concept of artificial intelligence.

Crafting Intelligence: A Peek into Robot Minds (30 minutes):
Ever wondered how robots become so smart? In this segment, we’ll demystify the process by which robots acquire their intelligence through programming and computer control. To make things even more exciting, we’ll demonstrate a simple robot car application that you can interact with. Then, with a bit of guidance, you’ll have the chance to try your hand at programming your very own robot car.

Show and Share: Your Robo-Creations Shine (20 minutes):
It’s time to showcase your newly programmed robot cars! Each participant will have the opportunity to proudly present their creations. We’ll also engage in an open discussion, sharing experiences, insights, and the joys of navigating the world of robotics as beginners. This is where the magic of learning together truly comes alive.

Culmination and Commendation (10 minutes):
As our adventure comes to a close, your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. We’ll take a moment to gather your thoughts through feedback forms and express our heartfelt appreciation for your enthusiastic participation. Your contribution has been instrumental in making this journey both enlightening and enjoyable.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be equipped with newfound knowledge and a refreshed perspective on robots and technology. Even as beginners, you’ll leave with the ability to spark engaging conversations and foster connections that extend well beyond our time together. So, let your curiosity guide you as we embark on this delightful introduction to the world of robotics.
