Teresa follows her dream

Tess

Teresa worked for the same retail business for 26 years, ever since she left school. But then the store closed and Teressa was made redundant. Despite this, she has always maintained a positive approach and looked at this as an opportunity to follow her dream.

Teressa has always wanted to work with the elderly so she enrolled in a Certificate III in Individual Support specialising in ageing at Inverell Community College. She is a very determined young woman with a positive outlook on all things in life. She does not see cerebral palsy as a barrier. She always finds a solution to difficulties she experiences. For example, using the mechanical lifter was initially difficult – but with perseverance and practice she successfully completed the task.

Teressa’s self-confidence has really grown and she is an extremely valuable class member and is highly respected amongst her peers.

Teressa has been offered employment at the local hospital and aged care facility. After this positive learning experience Teressa wants to continue with further study to improve her skills and knowledge and to support her journey on her new career path.

If you know an outstanding learner why not celebrate their achievements and nominate them for an ALW scholarship.
