Learning on two wheels

Learning on two wheels

Bike-riding is an ability most of us take for granted but there are people who have made it into adulthood without experiencing the joy of travelling on two wheels. The good news is that it’s never too late to learn.

They say you never forget how to ride a bike. But what about if you never learned in the first place? Or if it’s been so long since you last tried you’re nervous about giving it a go?

With the popularity of cycling and the benefits it offers for the hip pocket as well as health, increasing numbers of people are taking it up as a form of exercise and a cheaper form of transport.

Not surprisingly, bike riding classes for adults are popular too. In Sydney low cost Rusty Riders classes run alongside courses in bike maintenance and city street cycling classes for riders to build their skills and confidence.

Rob Berry, course leader at Bikewise in Sydney has taught over a thousand would be cyclists ranging in age from 25 to 75. He says learning to ride or improving rusty riding skills is all about empowering people and building confidence, one step at a time.
