Kerry Hume – Victoria
Learning AmbassadorsKerry, a 40-year-old mother of three, is the newly appointed Assistant Manager at Aurora Dairies Glenfyne farm near Cobden. Her farming journey began two years ago when she started milking cows. Encouraged by her manager, she took an agriculture course at Rural Industry Skills Training (RIST) and hasn’t looked back.
Kerry completed several Learn Local courses, including Agriculture Work Health and Safety, Ruminant Nutrition, and Introduction to Soils. She’s now finishing a Certificate IV in Agriculture and already considering a Diploma.
These opportunities have opened many doors for Kerry, including winning the Employee Award in the Great South West Dairy Awards. Kerry finds adult learning more relaxed and supportive compared to her school days. She describes the adult learning environment as nurturing and flexible, enhancing her literacy and skills.
