The School for Seniors is run under Libraries Tasmania’s Adult Education program. It caters for people in the senior age group, usually retired, who meet for approximately two hours each week. The group is generally self-managing and arranges its own programs with assistance from Libraries Tasmania which provides facilities and other support.

Air dry clay is a great clay for you to create your own decorative pieces without the use of a kiln. Sayo will teach you easy clay forming techniques such as slab, pinch pot and coil. All important hand building techniques that you will use to create your own unique pieces. Week 1 – Hand build a shape – learn pottery techniques to create your desirable shape (your pieces will need several days to dry and be ready to paint in week 2).

After attending this induction workshop and becoming a library member, you can book a maker session to use the laser cutter for your own creative projects. No previous experience required.
Not everyone had the opportunity to grow up with computers and the internet. This workshop is for people who have never really used a computer or the internet before, and might find them a little scary.
This workshop will walk you first through the basics of what a computer is, what its components are and how it’s operated. We’ll teach you how to use a mouse and keyboard. Then we’ll put those skills to good use to create your first document on the computer, and do a little web surfing along the way.
